My Shows: Hmmmmm..........shows??? Does this mean the tv shows i watch? I'm not much of a tv buff....takes time away from creating and reading...but when i do watch i like to watch Public television...especially inspirational shows with Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, The Secret People etc. Also i am interested in the Paranormal so any shows covering that area peaks my interest. Some Crafty or artsy HGTV shows are cool too!

    Diamonds in your own backyard

Tuesday, March 25, 2008, 10:25 AM PST [General]

I believe i read about the saying in the book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho years ago. The book is about reaching for your dreams. I was so impressed with it that i even painted "there are diamonds in your own backyard" on one of my doors in the kitchen. I had glued gems in the spot where the words had been painted. I think sometimes we forget that we can find riches right where we are now - we can work with what we have. Perhaps another similar saying is Bloom where you are Planted. Often when i look through books written by other artists i think "Gee, i wish i could paint/collage/draw/sculpt like that!" Then i try to be like them and the efforts end in failure. Why? Because i'm trying to be something i'm not. The diamonds truly exist in my own backyard. I ask myself, "Well, what are you good at?" then in my mind i begin to itemize what my talents and strengths are. The juice begins to course through my body again and i create anew!
