    Wednesday My first blog

Wednesday, April 30, 2008, 06:38 PM PST [General]

This is my first blog ever.  I love doing lots of different crafts.  I am getting ready to retire in June from teaching.  ONly 34 days left but I am not really counting.  I love teaching but I am glad that it is coming to a close.  I am ready to just sit back and relax without getting up early everyday and planning lesson plans and meeting Dept. Chair deadlines and District deadlines.  I am looking forward to using my new Bernina sewing machines,  yep I did make that a plural.  I quilt but my schedule has not allowed me the time to really devote to it like I would like to.  My last quilt was for my daughter's wedding which was 6 years ago.  I started another one but that has been put away.  When I retire in June, I plan on moving to Massachusetts to live near my younger grandchildren.  I want to sew Jacquelilne and Ozzie stuff and quilt.  I also knit and crochet for a friend of mine who does a craft fair back east to raise money for a home that houses adults who are severely handicapped.  I knit and crochet for the grandkids and me too.  I will continue to scrapbook, regular and digital.  I find that now that I am coming to the end of my lifetime career that I really value my own time that I have.  Today was the Faculty Basketball game and I was going to go with a friend from school but I would have to hang around school until 4:30.  The game is at 6.  But I just wanted to go home, so I canceled out.  Rather be home doing crafts.  LOL.

So happy for you, so many big changes on the way. My mother in law is a retired teacher I remember how much she looked forward to her own time. Unfortunately we moved to Maine before her retirement. She would love to spend regular time with our little Celia and see the boys games and concerts. She'll be here this summer for a visit but it's just not the same.
Are you ready for New England winters?
