    Layouts to come

Saturday, July 26, 2008, 09:53 AM EST [General]

I actually got some scrapbooking done in the last couple of weeks thanks to Cassie hanging out.  I think I may have posted one of them but I'll double check and make sure both make it up.  Next project will be the dessert portion of the QK recipe swap (and I'll probably repost the others when I post that just to have them all in one place).  Then I'll move on to the much dreaded infomercial mini albums.  Yes, I've been dragging my feet on these for over a year and I'm ready to put that baby to bed.  I've got a whole plan for cranking them out, assembly line style.  Think positive thoughts for me so I don't end up looking like Lucile Ball in the chocolate factory!

    Irony or just plain difficult?

Wednesday, July 9, 2008, 10:15 AM EST [General]

Well it was bound to happen.  Just as we are all getting over our chest cold (all except the littlest one) and I'm praising myself for preventing the baby from getting it too I hear it....this wet rumbly kind of cough which is oh so familiar these days.  Poor baby, it's her first cold and she has no idea what she's in for yet.  It seems like #1 got her first cold around this age too.  But this kid is so happy all the time that she's still making her gurgly happy noises in between rumbly coughs as she lays on her blanket staring at the family portraits on the wall.  I love any kid that can wake up smiling.

I also wanted to mention in case you missed it, Heather left me a note that she's got an event going on which is near and dear to my heart.  Here's what she said:

I'm running an event in honor our our service men in August in Culver City, CA. It's time our community gives a little back to our soldiers.

Good luck Heather and please let us know how it goes.

    Big thunder

Monday, July 7, 2008, 03:16 PM EST [General]

No, not the mountain railroad.  Just real, big thunder and lightening.  Gotta love Florida in the summer.  It's almost a guarantee that we'll have a storm usually coming off the Everglades.

Anyway, I'm shutting things down for a bit to protect my new laptop but I've got photos to share later.  Hope you're well!

    A helpful tip

Saturday, July 5, 2008, 02:45 PM EST [General]

Trying to buy hotdogs on July fifth is a bad idea.  I had my choice of lite turkey dogs or some nasty off brand.  Why didn't I buy them before the 4th like everybody else?  Because DH & #1 decided this morning as I was writing the grocery list that they had a taste for them.

As for our 4th well, that went pretty much like New Year's Eve goes: #1 is in bed long before the festivities but claims she wants to be woken up when things start.  We try to wake her and she says she'd rather sleep (Mommy's girl).  I'm usually in bed either just after or just before the hoopla.  Love watching fireworks in person but they lose their luster on tv.  So with us all being sick this year there was just no way we'd get to see them in person.  #1 was pleased to see a recap of fireworks on CNN this morning.  I guess we can celebrate as if today is the 4th.

It is a sad day for us though.  One of the men Brian served with was killed in Afghanistan and his funeral is today.  If not for having just had surgery he'd have gone to NY for the service but we just couldn't make it happen, with it being a holiday weekend there weren't flights available for him to get there in time.  And he couldn't drive so soon after knee surgery.  So our thoughts and prayers are with the family.  You can find out more about him and the others lost that day by simply searching his name, Captain Phil Dykeman.  May they rest in peace.
