    Hoarder's Challenge Up.

    Wednesday, August 27, 2008, 09:57 PM [General]

The long awaited, much debated, voted for Hoarder's Challenge is UP. It is posted in the Scrapbooking Messageboard,  as Hoarders Challenge Week #1.

As I have not made it to the Higher Beings to get a Separate Challenge SubGroup running. And since I am Scrapbooking more now than anything else. I will continue to post the Challenge there. HOWEVER,  this Hoarder's thing does not discriminate.  It applies to all Crafters/'Artisans/Creative Types who are in all the MyCraftivity Groups. That is why I am putting it in my blog.  I am not the best at linkiing stuff up yet. I can post and upload, but linking, that is yet to be mastered.I don't want anyone to feel left out. Other artisans in other  crafts besides scrapbooking- please feel free to send a Challenge idea to me. You will recieve full on credit for it and can be like the Challenge Goddess of the Week. How about that.

So Link it up folks. MyCHoarder's Unite!

This Challenge is about using your STASH of SCRAPS. No Rules,  Two weeks. No pressure.  This is ScrapTherapy, remember to Enjoy  the process. Spread the love to other MyCHoarders. Share your creativity.

"Hi, My Name is Jules, I hoard patterned paper. (Hi Jules!) I am 3 years unclean. I blame my best friend who got me hooked on scrapbooking. I do not buy patterned paper because I necessarily NEED it (sniff sniff) I buy it because (BIG sob) It's PRETTY.I am addicted to patterned paper.  (wailing and bawling, patting on the back and hugging, and someone hands me a paper trimmer and a tape runner and I am OK).

Ok. That was a pretty lame scenario, but you can see it , can't you. You all know it's true. Everyone is Doing It. Stashing, hoarding, It's Pandemic. Use it UP. then you can buy more! See how simple that is.

That is why this is going to happen. We MyCHoarder's must unite. Get on the Bandwagon to Stash-Sanity. Calm the crowded over files, Rage the rampants Ephemera, Ok Ok. I will stop with the  bad phrases. It makes Me Happy.

Scrap. English. (n) Small piece, remnant, fragment. Possible Scrabble(tm) Score: 24?

Those project leftovers you think...hmm that's pretty good size, might could use that on something else... knowing you probably will forget about having it the next time. This is that Next Time Moment. (1)You diligently place pieces of scraps, in appropriate folders by color, theme, etc. Yes, You Do, don't Deny It. I have a hanging file cabinet crate for BIG pieces and anything less than 8.5X11 goes in an accordion file. The crate works because 12x12's don't get bent. (2) You are discriminate about the type of scrap you will keep, too. I will be cleaning up, and  say  oh its small. but I can stiull USE it, then I stop Me, and tell Me, that No, You Won't. So it goes. Small pieces  under 3 inches or odd shaped  fragments often get turned into Punched shapes. I will punch a piece of paper until it is unpunchable.  Pieces the size of a business card and up are kept. by color. Holiday papers get dumped in whatever the predominate background color is. I know I can go to Black, Orange, Red, Green, White and find pretty much the holidays scraps I need.

I am a mess when I work. so  keeping small pieces of paper just makes it more cluttery. Keeping to the Business Card size and punching  up smaller pieces has been working. If I want to make a quick hand made card, I go to the Stash of Scraps first and I can pretty much rummage thru to find coordinating piece quickly.

I did this altered Glass Photo Cube. Pictures are forthcoming to my Gallery once I shoot all the sides.  It was a Work of Scraps.  The neat thing: totally changeable. 4x4 squares. Clever cropping of pictures, mild unification from side to side (I used papers from One Designer that to me is unification).

My theory is: The more supplies I use up, more shopping can be done to replace said supplies.

I love your theory! I'm into scrapbooks and greeting cards - you wouldn't believe what I have accumulated in just 3 years! And I do use my scraps - just not fast enough! :)
    Thanks for sharing ideas.

    Sing while you scrap!

Any ideas to use up my stashes is great. I have been collecting fabric fo 20 years, and paper for about 7 years. My daughter is always telling me I need to use what I have. Well, my husband jokes that the closet that houses my fabric is an aging closet. That the fabric has to age like a good wine. I am so glad that he can joke about it. I see something in the store have an idea, buy it, and by the time I have time to make anything I have forgotten what I was going to make. I really love your theory the more supplies I use up, the more shopping I can do to replace it. Now, if I could only live by that theory. But realisticaly, lets get real, I know that I will be out buying more paper, stamps, and fabric beore I use up what I have.
