    Card Drive + Directory

Friday, June 27, 2008, 02:34 PM EST [General]

I just read that Jennifer McGuire is organizing a card drive for her family in Africa. How sweet! Click here for details. What a great and noble excuse for making cards. I think I’ll get started this weekend…I have a stash a new supplies that are waiting to be used.

And speaking of supplies, have you noticed the new mycraftivity.com directory? Just click on "Online Craft Directory" at the bottom of the page to link to info about loads of craft stores. The directory is chock full of scrapbooking/papercrafting resources, browseable by state.

So, what are your papercrafting weekend plans? Have a good one, and stay tuned for some S+P excitement next week (there might be a giveaway involved...).

    Embroidered Papercrafts Inspiration

Wednesday, June 25, 2008, 10:14 AM EST [General]

If you haven’t checked out the design*sponge blog, I recommend you pop on over. Whether discussing home décor, stationery, DIY projects or amazing makeovers, the photos are always inspiring.

This post about esty artist nestingrange prompted some inspiration of my own.  Nestingrange's embroidered paper tags would not only make great additions to gift bags, but also make perfect simple, delicate embellishments for cards and layouts. While you’re in the shop, be sure to check out the embroidered wallpaper—amazing!

(And speaking of sewing and papercrafting, you can get some more inspiration from Sew Easy Papercrafting which is now 50% off in the mycraftivity.com clearance shop.)

What kind of art inspires your own papercrafting?

    GASC Virginia

Monday, June 23, 2008, 04:40 PM EST [General]

The second GASC show of 2008 just wrapped up this past weekend in Chantilly, Virgina. If you were lucky enough to attend, we'd love to hear your thoughts on the show. If you couldn't make it, here's a peak at one of the projects '08 Master Tracy Austin taught during the 3 day event:

I love the colorful floral vine that she carried across the page spread! If you're a fan of the album, Tracy is going to be teaching this same class at the GASC show in Tennessee this September, so be sure to check it out. And head over to the MM Masters blog for a full view of all the album pages.

Sometimes I wish I was British

Friday, June 20, 2008, 02:15 PM EST [General]

I’m quite enamored (okay, obsessed) with all things British—hydrangeas, scones and Colin Firth included. In fact, our four-hour stop in London's Gatwick airport last month was nearly as exciting to me as the entire vacation in Italy.

But anyway, today I came across some adorable gift wrap patterns on the print & pattern blog.

I come to find out they are available at the British department store Marks & Spencer. Darn!  Wouldn’t this print make the cutest addition to girly-girl scrapbook pages or kid-friendly birthday cards?  Oh, well. I guess we do have some good stuff here in the U.S.

To start off the weekend right, I’ll leave you with some delicious British eye candy. Think about (and share!) what you could with these gorgeous prints.
