The second GASC show of 2008 just wrapped up this past weekend in Chantilly, Virgina. If you were lucky enough to attend, we'd love to hear your thoughts on the show. If you couldn't make it, here's a peak at one of the projects '08 Master Tracy Austin taught during the 3 day event:
I love the colorful floral vine that she carried across the page spread! If you're a fan of the album, Tracy is going to be teaching this same class at the GASC show in Tennessee this September, so be sure to check it out. And head over to the MM Masters blog for a full view of all the album pages.
I’m quite enamored (okay, obsessed) with all
things British—hydrangeas, scones and Colin Firth included. In fact,
our four-hour stop in London's Gatwick airport last month was nearly as
exciting to me as the entire vacation in Italy.
But anyway, today I came across some adorable gift wrap patterns on the print & pattern blog.
I come to find out they are available at the British department store Marks & Spencer. Darn! Wouldn’t this print make the cutest addition to girly-girl scrapbook pages or kid-friendly birthday cards? Oh, well. I guess we do have some good stuff here in the U.S.
To start off the weekend right, I’ll leave you with some delicious British eye candy. Think about (and share!) what you could with these gorgeous prints.
This week, I had the pleasure of working with Sherry Steveson, author of When Life Gives You Lemons, in the photo studio. A week like this is one of nice perks of my job—I get to hang out with great people (and introduce them to Graeter’s ice cream). While we did discuss Lemons quite a lot, Sherry was actually in town to shoot step-by-step photos for her second book. I can’t reveal just yet what the book is about, but I promise you lots of unique and creative ideas and tons of really fabulous art. Here's a couple sneak peeks of the shoot (that's Sherry with fab photographer Christine Polomsky):
To ease your curiosity in the meantime, check out Sherry’s work on her blog as well as in the new Memory Makers Scrapbook Idea Gallery, and stay tuned for sneak peeks and more information about Lemons (due out in September).
The MyCraftivity book store has added a Clearance category to their shop and it's chalk full of awesome titles - ALL 50% OFF! Here were a few I thought might make for good summer reading:
Scrapbooking the School Years - Now that the kids are out of school for the summer, this book is the perfect inspiration for putting all those memories from the past school year onto paper.
Art Fun! - Also a great book for summertime. Get the kids involved in your crafting with fun and easy projects like printmaking, sculpting and painting.
Paper Every Day - Crafters of all kinds will find this step by step book a great resource for making the most of your decorative papers.
Hope everyone's summers are getting off to a good start!
This past week I had the pleasure of working the GASC Arlington show. And, while the customer service and ticket booths kept me so busy I didn’t even step foot on the show floor, I still came away with some highlights from the event:
Getting to chat with Memory Makers authors/contributors Crystal Jeffrey Rieger, Kitty Foster and Staci Etheridge, all of whom taught classes at the show. (Crystal and Staci will be teaching at some of the other show stops as well.
Enjoying some awesome Texas steak and bar-b-q. mmm!
Working with the Conferences team from F+W…this group of ladies knows how to make a good time out of just about any situation!
And finally, getting to meet so many scrapbookers. It was incredibly refreshing to be reminded of why people love this hobby. Some customers just didn’t care what they signed up for, they were just thrilled to be there, spending time with friends…and of course, scrapping. Thanks to all you wonderful ladies (I didn’t see a single male scrapper) for making a “working” week seem like so much fun!
