Have any pictures that are just too special to keep in an album? Why not put them on a pair of shoes and sport them around town! Keds now offers photo-customizable shoes in both women and kids styles. Make a pair for yourself...or let the kids each design a pair of back-to-school shoes. Nothing like making a cool impression on the first day back!
Happy Friday, papercrafters! Do you have plans for papercrafting this weekend? To get your juices flowing, here's a little Friday eye candy--stuff I’m currently loving:
Have you visited the Target dollar aisle recently? Well, if you haven’t, don’t walk, but run there now! Dollar finds always go quickly, and among the sea of lotions, board books, and paper plates you will find—get this—scrapbook supplies.
Yes, brads, stickers and (my personal favorite) adorable chipboard alphas—all for just $1! Sure, the local scrapbook is still your best bet for the latest and greatest scrapbook goodies, but for a cheap change of pace, Target is the place to be. And keep your eyes peeled for scrapbook supplies at other discount retailers as well. As few weeks ago I came across some inexpensive metal alphas, brads and paper at TJ Maxx.
I’ve spent time this week checking up on all the various new products that debuted at the Craft & Hobby Association show last weekend. This morning, I ran into what I think is one of the coolest products: the Scrapblog Builder.
Scrapblog.com offers this new, easy-to-use Web-based program for creating digital scrapbook pages. The best part? Scrapblog projects are meant to be shared. You can
post your page on your Scrapblog.com site and invite others to view it,
or you can copy and paste it to emails, web pages and blogs, including
your mycraftivity blog. Here's my page:
I liken the Scrapblog Builder to a basic version of Photoshop for true digital beginners. (Although, those familiar with Photoshop will also have fun using the program). In the Scrablog Builder, you can upload your own photos then create digi pages with them from a wide variety of digital backgrounds, alphas and embellishments available--for free!--on the Scrapblog site. I promise, the program really is super easy to use--just click and drag. You change fonts and colors, resize and rotate elements, crop and edit photos, all right there on the web.
To get started, visit Scrapblog.com and take a quick tour. Then come back here and share your creations with us!
I recently came across the Tutti Frutti summertime digital kit (by Emily Powers & Paislee Press). The citrus colors and playful elements were perfectly suited for my photos of a lazy afternoon on my parents’ sailboat.
To highlight the busy photos, I stuck with more subtle green papers, which also provide a nice bright contrast to the pictures' cool blues. I downloaded the title fonts at scrapvillage.com.
