Hi, I’m Christine, another Memory Makers Books team member and a guest blogger here on the Scrapbooking + Papercrafts blog of MyCraftivity. Kristin and Eileen asked our team to share our layouts that were inspired by the new book, Oh, Baby! I was definitely up to the challenge being that my new favorite scrapbook subject is my baby niece, Miss Stella Pearlie. The photo I wanted to use was 5 x 7, and since I don’t do many one-photo layouts, I needed some inspiration. So I paged through the book and found this one by Jaime Warren that struck my fancy. I liked the design itself but also her use of patterned paper to really highlight the photo.
So here is my take on Jaime’s layout—I changed it up a bit, of course. But that’s what idea books are all about—getting ideas from great scrapbook artists that you can then make your own. What fun!
I recently had the pleasure of talking to a few of the Oh, Baby! contributors about motherhood and precious, adorable, lovable baby layouts. Read on to get a little insight. And don’t forget to enter the Oh, Baby! giveaway. Visit Monday's giveaway blog post by May 11 (Mother’s Day) to enter.
Contributor: Greta Hammond Wakarusa, Indiana Kids: Liam (7) and Ashlyn (4) When/why did you start scrapbooking? I started scrapbooking about 7 years ago after my son was born. I needed a creative outlet after deciding to be a stay-at-home mama. Scrapbooking become that outlet and so much more! What’s something important you’ve learned from your kids? I think the most important thing I have learned from my kids is appreciating the little things. They get so excited about the smallest things and it makes you realize that that is what it is all about!
Contributor: Kelly Noel Land O' Lakes, Florida Kids: Jackson (3), Brady (1) When and why did you start scrapbooking? I started scrapbooking in 1997. It was my first year of college and I was always taking lots of photos. My Mom suggested that I scrapbook them and it didn't take long before I was totally hooked. Is there anything moms should keep in mind when scrapbooking baby pages? In addition to the obligatory monthly stat pages, I like to scrapbook pages that will help me remember his little quirks or little moments that I might otherwise forget. I think those are the pages I'll look back on and be happy that I captured the memory.
Contributor: Kelly O’Dell Cincinnati, Ohio Kids: Brianna (9 months) What’s most surprising about motherhood? The lack of sleep I get...and how much work it is. I definitely underestimated it. What’s your favorite thing about being a mom? Walking into
daycare—I see my daughter get excited (kicking her legs) and smile when
she see’s me. She gives me a big WET kiss and hug...it melts my heart.
