    Great American Scrapbook Convention

Tuesday, June 10, 2008, 10:51 AM EST [General]

Were you one of the lucky scrappers to attend cropping parties and workshops at the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington, Texas? If so, leave a comment and tell us all about it! For more GASC updates, check out Christine’s blog, Crystal Jeffrey Rieger's blog, and the Memory Makers Masters blog.

If you missed out on the Texas excitement, no worries! You have three more chances to get in on the action. Register in person at the show next week in Chantilly, Virginia. And it’s not too late to register online for the shows in Grand Rapids (July 25-26) and Chattanooga (September 19-20).

I'll see you all in Tennessee!

I was there Thursday and Saturday. I took I {heart} my girl from Crystal Jeffrey Rieger on Thursday afternoon and 2008 Latest and Greatest from Shelby Dredge of Embellish IT on Saturday afternoon. The rest of the time I SHOPPED! I think it was better than last year. The parking lot was FULL but the show floor didn't seem so crowded and I think it was because of the new policy against rolling totes on the show floor. I did hear a lady at the Will Call booth say that the show has grown so much that space is getting tight in the facility so they implemented several new policies this year to try to alleviate the limited space issue. I heard some people complain about that but it really didn't bother me. So...that's my take on it.

my daughter and i attended all three days and it was dynamite! we stayed at the sheraton which is just across the parking lot from the convention center so there was no driving involved.we took some classes together and some seperate.we had a blast. we also volunteered 4 hours each day and you'd be surprised how much fun that is. the instructors are soooo different from one another and they genuinely try to make the classes fun and stress-free. my daughter and i both helped in crystal's classes on different days and we agreed she is a lot of fun. we did less shopping than last year but didn't feel like we missed anything. there was a store called "gotta scrap" in rockwall, texas that sponsored the crop on friday night and the owners fell in love with my daughter and insisted we visit thier store.so,saturday night at 8pm they met us and opened the store and we shopped til 10:15 pm. how many stores do you know that would do that on thier day off. we felt special! to all of you that are a little afraid to set off on such an adventure alone just do it!!! you'll be so glad you did.

This was my third year to attend the convention, and as always I left with a ton of goodies. I think next year I will actually take some classes & hopefully that will keep me off the showroom floor for a while! It was great!!!
