Mother's Day Giveaway
This week we’ve been celebrating the release of the new Memory Makers book Oh Baby! And to coincide with the release, we’re having a Mother’s Day giveaway. One lucky reader will receive a goodie box full of scrap supplies PLUS two awesome idea books! (Go to the GIVEAWAY POST for your chance to win.)
Today’s inspirations are brought to you by MyCraftivity members Kristin B. and Robin H. Kristin was inspired by Cindy Tobey’s layout featured in Oh Baby. She was impressed with the scalloped detail and lace trims in Cindy's layout, and decided to give them a whirl on her own page, "Going Green":

Robin’s layout features her oldest son (now approaching 18 years old) when he was just a baby. Robin said she scrapped these baby pics years after he was actually a tot. She’d been going through boxes of photos--most of which predated the digital age--and wanted to incorporate as many of her favorite photos from when her son was a baby. “I liked how the block design on the paper gave the page instant structure,” said Robin. “Also, I'm not a fan of my handwriting, so I was trying some lettering techniques I learned from Scrapbook Lettering.”

How has Mother’s Day inspired you to be crafty? If you don’t have children of your own, think about scrapping with a photo of yourself as a baby…then share your creation with your own mother. What a fun way to flash back on some of your own fun family memories.
Have a great weekend!

Good Intentions – Oh Baby!
I gathered my 12 x 12 papers, chipboard designs, pens and fibres ready to set to work. I only needed an idea and some images of my baby boy (now 4 years old).
Unfortunately you may recall the book Get It Scrapped! And how I gushed about digital organisation of photographs, which of course I hadn’t started. Well not only was I not organised, I had a dreamy mummy moment, looking at my digital photos of my kids and well…. Time flew by. I did, in my defence come up with some themes about grandparents, etc, but failed to create any pages.
So I shall be studying Oh Baby! this weekend to get at least
my sticky dots pumping. So if you need
the help as much as I do then we are offering one lucky reader a chance to
receive a FREE copy of Oh Baby! Just leave us a comment on Monday's giveaway blog post by May 11 (Mother’s Day in the
US) to enter..

Oh Baby Inspiration
Hi, I’m Christine, another Memory Makers Books team member and a guest blogger here on the Scrapbooking + Papercrafts blog of MyCraftivity. Kristin and Eileen asked our team to share our layouts that were inspired by the new book, Oh, Baby! I was definitely up to the challenge being that my new favorite scrapbook subject is my baby niece, Miss Stella Pearlie. The photo I wanted to use was 5 x 7, and since I don’t do many one-photo layouts, I needed some inspiration. So I paged through the book and found this one by Jaime Warren that struck my fancy. I liked the design itself but also her use of patterned paper to really highlight the photo.

So here is my take on Jaime’s layout—I changed it up a bit, of course. But that’s what idea books are all about—getting ideas from great scrapbook artists that you can then make your own. What fun!

To win your very own copy of Oh, Baby! be sure to post a comment on Monday’s blog post. Good luck, and Happy Mother’s Day!

When/why did you start scrapbooking? I started scrapbooking about 7 years ago after my son was born. I needed a creative outlet after deciding to be a stay-at-home mama. Scrapbooking become that outlet and so much more!
What’s something important you’ve learned from your kids? I think the most important thing I have learned from my kids is appreciating the little things. They get so excited about the smallest things and it makes you realize that that is what it is all about!

When and why did you start scrapbooking? I started scrapbooking in 1997. It was my first year of college and I was always taking lots of photos. My Mom suggested that I scrapbook them and it didn't take long before I was totally hooked.
Is there anything moms should keep in mind when scrapbooking baby pages? In addition to the obligatory monthly stat pages, I like to scrapbook pages that will help me remember his little quirks or little moments that I might otherwise forget. I think those are the pages I'll look back on and be happy that I captured the memory.

What’s most surprising about motherhood? The lack of sleep I get...and how much work it is. I definitely underestimated it.
What’s your favorite thing about being a mom? Walking into
daycare—I see my daughter get excited (kicking her legs) and smile when
she see’s me. She gives me a big WET kiss and hug...it melts my heart.
