    A Finished Project!

Wednesday, April 1, 2009, 11:25 PM MST [General]

I just finished painting my daughter's room!!!  I feel like it has taken me so long for a relatively easy project.  She does love it and that's what really counts in my heart.  It is wild, crazy and sassy-just like her.  I told her she better love it because after hand painting that ceiling, it is staying that way for at least a couple of years!  Now, I'm to decorating it-the real fun part and that she can help to do.  Then maybe, just maybe I'll find some time to scrapbook???

    Not Just a Bookmark...

Monday, February 9, 2009, 11:11 PM MST [General]

It's a warm Sunday afternoon.  My littlest child is napping and I finally have some quiet time to scrapbook.  I'm not in my space long before I hear giggles and footsteps.  It wasn't my youngest, it was all of my oldest girls...four, to be exact.  My oldest daughter, Bayley had a few friends over for a bit.  Instead of doing whatever it is that tweens do, they came to spend time with me.  They loved the sracpbooking pages and all of my pictures and trinkets that take over and make my space, my space.  In those moments, we talked about the dance from Friday night, who likes who, what they plan on being as they grow up and what they will name their children.  It wasn't too long into the conversations that they began to request something special too.  They asked for bookmarks with the same quote.  Simple request, sure, making it personal-that was a bit of a challenge as they combed through hundreds of paper choices.  Choices made, smiles and gratitude given, it was time to go to the movies for them.  Way after they were gone, I sat in my space, trying to make the bookmarks special for each of them...really, it was my way of saying thanks to each of them for sharing their stories, hopes and dreams with me on a warm, Sunday afternoon.  These are the moments that are definitely worth "bookmarking" in my book of life.

    Christmas necklace

Sunday, February 1, 2009, 10:54 PM MST [General]

Hey, fellow crafters!  I haven't blogged in a while because, like everyone else, life gets crazy sometimes.  I did want to post a picture of the necklace that I made for my daughter.  I also made a few for Christmas gifts.  You can put anything, just about, in them.  I chose words to encourage or words that described that person (like my daughter's).  It was easy and she loves it!  She wants me to put it on Etsy.com, but I've never done that before, so I'm a little gun shy.  If any of you have put things on Etsy before, please lend me your advice.

Still working on my daughter's room.  It looks pretty neat so far, I think.  The zebra stenciled ceiling makes the room look huge, so she likes that!  I'll be posting picture soon.

Painting is not for the weak of hearts!

Monday, January 19, 2009, 09:38 PM MST [General]

I started painting my daughter's room today.  I have to prime the walls first and that is not a fun endeavor.  My arms are already sore.  Who said that painting was easy?  Painting a room full of slopes and angles is not for the weak of hearts!  I love the color part of the exercise.  I like watching the change-waiting to see what the outcome will be.  Watching her anticipation and excitement has been the best part though.  I remember having that room just for me-just the way I loved it.  I filled it with all the things that made me happy.  Maybe no one understood the letters from friends and boyfriends strode about or the pictures that only made sense to me, but they always made me smile.  These are the things that I want for her too.  I want her to have the space to "be" in and remember with a smile.  So, the hot pink color will go on tomorrow and the change will begin!

Here's a picture of the closet area and part of the zebra ceiling:

    Scrapbooking with partners?

Sunday, January 11, 2009, 10:21 PM MST [General]

I have a question for you fellow scrapers-how many of you can scrapbook with other people around?  I keep thinking that I will take one of those classes or marathon scrap booking things with others and then after i think it over, I don't think I could.  I scrapbook so much at night or when no one is around so that I can think.  So, I'm just curious...is it easier to scrapbook by yourself or with others...let me know what you think.
