My Crafts:
I think I have tried every form of crafting at some point:) Remember macrame? WOW, that will take you back!
I started sewing at an early age as my mom was a seamstress but I didn't pick up her love, quilting, until about 15 years ago. I don't hand quilt like she did, no patience, but love it just the same.
I also make cards, scrapbook, crochet, and bead. I tried knitting, too many needles for me! Cross stitch took to long to see results. I've dabbled in mixed media and used to paint up a storm but now mostly stick to the five I named above.
I am looking forward to learning new techniques and tricks on this site. I think it is wonderful to have one site that covers all the realms of crafting. I spend so much time on the internet at home looking at the different sites, it will be great to come here and find a variety in one spot!
My Inspirations:
My mom, of course, was my first inspiration. She would make all my clothes and when I had outgrown them she saved them and made me a quilt! Actually she made three but I can't talk my brother out of the other two! But it is a great remembrance of her and all she did for me that I never knew held so much love!
My other inspirations would be my quilting friends, who like me, go past the realm of quilting when it comes to crafting. My friend Carol is amazing when it comes to crafting. She usually has three or four projects going at any given time. Her eye for color is wild! And my friend Cathy is the most beautiful knitter I have ever seen! What she does with yarn is beyond my comprehension. They are both fantastic quilters and two great great friends!
My Shows:
Well if I were home all day I would watch Alex Anderson and Carol Duvall every day. But since I work I'm limited to evenings:) So, I love Dancing With the Stars, American Idol, Big Brother, Survivor, Greys Anatomy and Brothers and Sisters.
My Movies:
I don't go to a lot of movies or watch a lot of movies at home but I'd have to say any musicals (Hairspray with John Travolta was great) and ELF! I love Will Ferrell.
My Books:
I love a good mystery and especially like Debbie Macomber. Own a lot of quilting books, I'll never be able to make one thing out of each book in a lifetime:)! Working for a publisher has it's advantages!
My Magazines:
I have subscribed to Love of Quilting Fons and Porter for years and now subscribe to Quilter's Home which I enjoy immensely!
My Music:
Muscials, of course. I have seen Wicked three times and practically know the songs by heart. QUEEN, BEATLES, BON JOVI, GARTH BROOKS, FAITH HILL. I like pretty much a mix of artists. My kids all liked different types of music so I learned to adapt to anything.
My Occupation:
Production Coordinator
My Family Members:
My husband, Tom, and I have been married 31 years. We were engaged 5 yrs 9 months before we got married - didn't want to rush into anything:) We started dating our sophmore year of high school and were on again off again all through high school. I was pretty fickle but he kept coming back:) We are empty nesters now so working on getting the house back to before kids:) He retired early and spends a lot of time playing his guitar (he's in a band) , riding his Harley and playing with the grandkids.
My oldest daughter, Amanda, is married to a wonderful man, Tony and they have two sons (who are the light of my life) - Andrew (Drew for short) 2 yrs old and Alexander (Alex for short) 5 months old. Amanda is a crafter, when she has time, and Tony loves Notre Dame football and his alma mater Xavier!
My son, Erik, is second in line and he is married to a sweetie pie, Megan. Erik is a talented musician and reponsible for my learning to like all kinds of music:) We both love QUEEN but most of his other music I don't understand. He also writes songs and plays in a band. His wife doesn't craft but I'm working on that! She works for Broadway Across America (what a fun job) and loves it! They have two cats so we have two grandcats:)!
My youngest, Laura, just moved out in November. I wouldn't say she crafts but she can be crafty if the mood hits her. She is an UC alum and works at a hospital as an X-Ray tech. Not married but dating a guy with an adorable 3 year old daughter. And they love the Bengals!
My Other Hobbies:
Shopping for and playing with my grandsons. Lunching with friends. Antiqueing - I love to collect and my largest collection would be my cookie jar collection. I have over 1000 cookie jars. No I do not put cookies in any of them, I actually use Tupperware for that!
