Hello,
painting friends! Here’s a simple
question: what do you love to
paint?
Maybe that
isn’t as simple as it seems. I love paintings of flowers, but I actually enjoy
painting landscapes more. So I
guess my real question is: if you
could spend the next week learning how to paint something, what would that be?
(In this game, money is no object and your time is your own. All you have to do is paint.)
And like me, do you enjoy painting a certain subject because you’re pretty good at it? Or because the subject intrigues you? Or because you love it so much you just have to get it down on paper or canvas? Or because it’s how you make your living?
What drives us to keep on painting?

I love landscapes but I can never seem to get them just right. So I end up painting portraits of flowers or small objects. I actually like paintings with a sketchy quality about them. Kind of half finished with the base sketch showing. I guess it's my way of breaking the rules. Once I received a critique from an art instructor when she saw a painting I had done in this manner and she DID NOT like it.(Actually I didn't like it either..it was my first attempt at being "sketchy"). So if I could spent a week painting without the subject confinement of rules I would toss a coin, pick a subject and show that art instructor I like painting my way even if she doesn't. Gosh, I think I've talk myself into planning my own art retreat!
