Hello,
painting friends! My latest trip
to a bricks-and-mortar bookstore generated an interesting question in my mind
(at least, to me). Why do
bookstores shelve certain kinds of books together?
Example: I was looking for a particular painting instruction book and, of course, went right to the Art Reference shelf where I usually go, but could not find it or any book like it. I happened to walk by the Craft shelves and, lo and behold, there it was! But why?
As a painter, I have never really thought of myself as a crafter. So I would never think of looking among the craft books in the stores for books on art or painting. I wonder how many times I’ve walked out of a bookstore without buying anything because the book wasn’t shelved where I thought it logically should go.
Has this happened to you? And if you’re a crafter rather than a painter, do you sometimes have to look for the books you want in other areas of the store? Do you think the bookstores should pay more attention to where they shelve the books?
Can’t wait to hear what you have to say! Meanwhile, don’t forget to click on the MyCraftivity Shop for the fantastic 50%-off Clearance Sale. This is by far the easiest way to find the books you want, no matter if you’re a painter or crafter or both. It's like having an entire bookstore all to ourselves!
