Thanks,
Cassie and Kerry, for your great suggestions on how to prep my old, stained
furniture for a new coat of paint! I never knew there was such a thing as aniline dyes used in furniture
finishes. That’s the wonderful
thing about being a part of a large community of painters and crafters – the
depth of knowledge and breadth of experience is amazing and gratifying.
I will let you know how it turns out, but right now we are having many rainy days and since I prefer to work out on my back deck when dealing with paints and old finishes, I’m not making any progress. I’ll look for the primer products you mentioned and be ready when the sun comes out again! Stay tuned...

Okay, Kathy, the sun's out today, so get busy!
KerrySeriously, its been really rainy, hasn't it? Since I live a couple hours west of you we share the same weather. I don't even feel creative on those gloomy, chilly days. I don't do much painting outdoors, but my project this spring (whenever THAT gets here) is to make shutters for my house. I've become pretty adept with the power saw, so I'm making and painting them outdoors - without the help of my husband (he thinks I can't do it!)I live in a yellow Victorian farmhouse and shutters will be just the right touch. I have to make 14 of them! But I can't decide if they should be barn red or a soft green - I'm torn!
