The art community was saddened this week by the loss of Robert Rauschenberg, a true pioneer in the mixed-media art world. To quote from his NYT obituary, "...Mr. Rauschenberg defied the traditional idea that an artist stick to one medium or style. He pushed, prodded and sometimes reconceived all the mediums in which he worked."
