I thought this was an interesting commentary on the blend going on lately between mainstream fashion and grassroots sources of hand-drawn pattern making. What is considered "cool" in the fashion world and chic in the hand-made world seems to be criss crossing a bit.
There are a lot of graphic art and comic book inspired little boutiques all around New York and San Francisco, but it's nice to see some haute culture throwing home-spun graphic art into the mix of clothing design on the catwalk.
A good friend of mine made me a couch pillow once out of a lampshade cover I liked (I know) and ever since my couches have had to match it. Can't help it. Childhood friends!
Here's a slightly new version from cipolla that's got a lovely and very simple to create pattern that really brings just the right amount of attention to the simple function of a cozy little throw pillow.
Sometimes simple is just the perfect thing to accent without taking over the style of the whole room. (Leaves more creative breathing space for new projects.)
