    word? score!

If you've read paper + pixels, then you know I'm a fan of utilizing microsoft word for hybrid scrapbooking. It really can do some cool things. Want to know what I realized today? I can do a little more photo editing than I realized! Sometimes the best way to learn the ins and outs of things is to really just fiddle around, you know?

Ok, so here's what I discovered. I was wanting to have 2 or more copies of the same photo overlapped to print out and use on a layout. Unsure of the exact look I wanted I started fiddling. In the edit bar (the photo one that  pops up when you have added a photo via insert>picture>from file) has some options for increasing and decreasing contrast, etc... it also has an option to fade a photo so that it's barely visible.

For me, who is often simply too rushed to open up PSE, this is great news. Now I have a cool effect for my birthday pie layout I'm using for my next Big Picture Class, and I did something new too. Gotta love creative play- I know I do!

another 'word' side note- you can totally add in decorative frames, digital embellies, etc. too. Just treat them (and layer) with your photos. Word rocks people. It really rocks. Especially from my laptop that has no photoshop capabilities (yet)...

    enchanted

Wednesday, March 19, 2008, 11:15 AM PST [General]

Hey all- Well yesterday we watched the movie "enchanted" and I decided that was a great title for the photo of Elizabeth (I shared about it a week or two ago here). So here's the final page. Just a little of this and a little of that. Used up some old K&Co butterflies, some of my favorite Basic Grey paper, and the green (behind photo) is my absolute #1 fave paint- called lumiere by Jacquard and it is shimmery. love it!

I think what I love about this is how the paint and the paper blend with the overlays (digital- by katie pertiet of www.designerdigitals.com) so well. Gotta love hybrid scrapping! I have some photos I want to do a "word" (as in the program) collage with. I'll be back to post those soon as I'm done.

In case it's later (rather than sooner)... happy Easter!

    hybrid love

Friday, March 7, 2008, 10:34 PM PST [General]

It's no secret that I love hybrid scrapbooking. I love it so much that I worked with Audrey Neal to create a whole book about it! I feel so blessed to have had that opportunity- and I love looking through it now that it's finished and get re-inspired to use my computer to enhance my paper crafting. Here's a prime example.

This photo of my daughter at her birthday is not great- but it captures such a memory and fabulous moment that I wanted to give the photo itself a boost before printing. I changed some overlays from black to white (a simple thing to do- just adjust hue/saturation and lighten 100%) and then I re-sized and drug them onto the photo. What I really love about adding digital brushes and frames and such directly to photos is that you can still send them off to be printed (if you're like me and in dire need of more ink!). One fancy photo... just waiting for me to pick it up at costco and scrap it!
