Got art, in pocket. Copyright 2008 Margot Potter for Ranger

Here are some more designs I've done this year working out of my bead mode and into paper crafting. The page for Create Your StyleTM with CRYSTALLIZEDTM-Swarovski Elements is actually my first scrapbook page...ever! I did some stamping and doodling using Robin Beam's bandanna technique, the hinges and skull are inked and painted Grungeboard and I Photoshopped the image of my daughter as the focal element of the design. The pumpkins and bats are actually ribbon I found at Michaels, that I am simply mad for! I really like how this turned out...maybe I'm scrappier than I thought...

The canvas was part of a design challenge I did for Ranger for CHA Winter. We all had one color (mine was Faded Jeans) in a variety of mediums plus black and white and the same size canvas. I made the faux jean pocket out of Paper Clay and then added the 3-D Elements which are removable. It's a riff on the Pretender's song Brass in Pocket, the idea being if you use Ranger products you'll have art at your fingertips. I used stamps and wooden pieces to give the design dimension and texture and interest. I ended up ripping the edges around the text later which you can't see here because I didn't take a final photo. The accents behind it are stamped and inked and laminated paper that was a ‘mistake' I fixed by tearing it up and making it a dimensional background. There are no mistakes! This is when I developed my cloudy sky background. There is one little thing I'd change, the star should move up just a skootch, but that's the way of art, there's almost always one thing you would change. I've been waiting to see a good photo of this. I think all of these canvases are supposed to be in a magazine at some point. If and when that happens, I'll let you know. There were some incredible artworks from some very talented people in the display.

I'm back to the grindstone. There are some very exciting things happening that I can't share yet because they are at this point mostly pie in the sky, but you know I likes me some pie!

Until tomorrow...craft on with your bad selves.

    Cheers,
    Madge
