The good, the bad, and the ugly hair.

The good, the bad, and the ugly hair. I'm losing two work days this week because of my hair. How lame is that?! Stupid hair. My hair has vexed me since before I could hold a comb. Seriously folks, I am not kidding. When I was a toddler, my poor mother would brush it, dippity do it, slick it into ponytails...no matter what she did folks would still say...did you brush her hair?! (I have always reviled the rudeness of strangers...)

There is a reason I have a Hair Don'ts page on my website and it's because my hair has been an ongoing issue for years. Yes, it's a recurring motif. It's not really straight and it's not really curly and I have enough hair for three people. I'm not exaggerating. I once didn't get a TV host job because the woman said that my hair was "too harsh for TV." Harsh.

Punk rock was good to me because I could make my hair HUGER than HUGE with a blow dryer, a one dollar can of Aqua Net Extra Super hold (black and pink can please) and a teasing comb. Ah, those were the days. Seriously people, I had me some serious BIG HAIR...I even sang in a band called Big Hair. We were like cow punk meets the B-52s. Good times.

It's much easier to wear my hair like a bird's nest than it is to try to make massive amounts of unruly, frizzy, funky arse hair silky smooth and straight. Two hours my friends, that's how long it takes me to style it. If it weren't for my job at QVC, I'd probably wear it a lot funkier, but a gal's gotta pay the bills. When I hit the big time (key lime pie in the sky hopes here) I'm hiring a full time hair and make up person.

I finished the purse; it just needs better hardware which my hubby is picking up at lunchtime. Thanks honey! I thought I'd completely wrecked it about four different times yesterday, but it really came together. It's super cool. I like it so much I can't wait to get it back so I can carry it! I've been collecting vintage buttons for years and they never stop looking good to me on projects. I wish I could show you the whole purse, but it's for a magazine and they don't like it when you preview things on your blog. As soon as it's out, I will share. Here's a tiny little sneak peek above! I figured out a way to make Mod Podge look like beeswax which is awesome because beeswax doesn't work on purses and jewelry since it melts when it gets hot. I'm starting to compile a little file of Madge's mixed media techniques that I can hopefully put into a book or a DVD.

We promise to make more videos when we get back from Tokyo. I'm gone for a week, back for a week, gone for another week and there's just not time to stop and make a new one. I'm so, so, so excited about the response! People are really digging it! YAY! The best thing I'm hearing is that it's fun and interesting to watch, even to folks who usually get bored watching craft videos.

If you liked our video and you want to spread the word on your blog; I'd be ever so grateful to you for doing so. Here's a super sweet post from the talented Miss Krissi Sandvik yesterday. How nice is that?! Take a look at her amazing artwork while you're there. She's seriously rockin'!
I'll post a link back to you if you blog my video, scout's honor. As long as you do it before I leave for Tokyo next Monday. Here's the URL for the video on YouTube:
