    Indiana Jones + Knitting...Who Knew!

So, with the release of the newest Indiana Jones flick (it started showing at midnight last night) there have been oodles of interviews and articles with the cast. Christine pointed me in the direction of a particularly interesting one with cast member Karen Allen, Indy's love interest from the first film back in 1981. Turns out, she's a HUGE knitter and even owns her own shop in Massachusetts, Karen Allen Fiber Arts.

In an interview with USA Today, Karen said, "I've been knitting  my whole life. This was my first love. When I was a child, my passionate thing and my first experience of ecstasy was standing at the threshold of a fabric or yarn store. Something about texture or design got my heart pounding."

And she's no joke either...her stuff is gorgeous! I particularly like this zip up jacket and it's simple stripe pattern up the front. Check out her entire collection, it's really beautiful! Even Indiana Jones himself is asking for one of her pieces.

Don't you just love discovering a crafter where you least expect it?

Hey, neato! She should work on an Ark Cozy.

Good ol' Marion. It's good to see her back, and nice to know what she's been up to outside of movies.

Wow! What an inspiration! I think I've found my next weekend destination...west to the Berkshires! I would love to get my hands on some of her work...I mean literally touch and feel it. It looks so beautiful. And I would love to see how it's made. Thanks for the pointer to her shop!

You know, I think I may have heard of her before, now that you mention it. Very cool! Her stuff truly is beautiful.
