What to Give Dear Old Dad?

Does anyone have any fun knit/crochet projects that would make good Father's Day gifts? I'm finding it's kind of a tough thing to come up with! I did find this syrup cozy on etsy that I know my dad would get a huge kick out of (especially if it came covering a brand new bottle of maple syrup). And I thought these felted coasters would be a fun gift for any dad who likes to entertain.

But really, aside from winter wear, what would you recommend knitting as a guy gift? And if you're not knitting/crocheting something...how will you be acknowleding dear old DAD this Father's Day?

For father's day, what about a pair of toe socks (ie like gloves except for your feet)? There is a pattern for some in the book Knitted Sock Sensations (you can buy it in the mycraftivity online store). They were specially designed as a cool gift for a dad, and the photos in the book actually show dad opening the gift and trying them on!!!

Thanks for the feedback Jenny - you're right, socks are a great guy gift! I haven't tried knitting a pair yet, but maybe I'll get going on a pair for next years Father's Day :)

What about a tie? Or maybe use some heavyduty washable yarn and make him an apron to wear when he's grilling? Like a suede yarn or something leathery? I know I've seen a pattern for a tie, but I'm not sure where. I will research it though and let you know if you are interested! Have a bright yarn ball day!

Cassie, ties are a fun idea! Check out my follow-up post on knitted ties...I found one on JCrews website!
