    Hi all,

I thought I would give you a sneaky peak at a new book that is publishing in November by Stefanie Japel called Glam Knits

It features 25 projects from funky garments to chic accesories, take a look below at some of them.

The blue scarf above is one of my favourites!  For more information about how you can buy a copy, click on the link above.

    As seen on DesignSponge:

For all you crafty green people out there, I thought this was too neat to pass up. Greetje van Tiem has created newspaper yarn, which can be woven into a variety of things. Check out how to make it yourself here.

    Messageboard Convos

I've got my next project picked out and feel like my knitting has taken on a new momentum. Maybe my skills are getting more refined and I'm enjoying projects more, or maybe it's the fact that I'll soon have my own little one to knit things for. Either way, I'm pumped to get started on something new!

I just posted two new threads on the Knitting forum asking for member advice on ordering supplies online, and thoughts on interchangeable circular needle sets. Come on over and share your thoughts! I've still got quite a bit to learn :)

    Summer Olympics

The Olympics are officially underway, as seen in the photo below (taken from the ESPN Beijing 2008 website). For the next 17 days, my face will be glued to the tv, most likely focusing my attention on water sports (mainly swimming & diving) and women's gymnastics.

Tonight, though, we'll all be treated to the spectacle that is the Opening Ceremonies. If the past is any indicator, there will be A LOT of very weird costumes, dances I don't understand, and a light show like no other (see above). All in all, a very inspiring event!

It's the perfect opportunity to grab your knitting and settle in for a couple of weeks. I'm seeing red, white and blue in my next project...

Knitted Squares for Oxfam - update

    Hi fellow knitters

As you know my knitting group and I have been knitting/crocheting squares for charity (see my previous blog titled 'Use up old wool for a good cause'). I thouht it was about time I gave you all a bit of an update on how we are doing.

A couple of us have only managed to finish a few sqaures but top knitter Caron Povey has finished an amazing 99 sqaures! She bought them all to the group today and we took a photo of them all spread out on our table. As you can see below she has used up all scraps of wool that she found around her house and has used crochet and knitting stitches. A lot of her squares are crocheted as she finds this is quicker and has been completing nearly 4 sqaures a night - wow that is quick!

This has really motivated me to getting knitting and I am going to try and finish as many as I can before the 25th August, which is the final deadline to send them to Oxfam. If you want to take part in this great cause please see my other blog which I have mentioned above which lists the address to send your sqaures to.

The Squares attracted quite a bit of attention (Caron is on the far right).

    Happy knitting!

    Marie :)
