Has anyone heard of the Cricut (Cricket) cutting system? If so, what are your thoughts about the product? I'm very curious about it ... it seems to have it all. It is expensive, and the cartridges aren't cheap, but compared to other cutting systems, the convenience alone may be worth it.

I too have the Cricut (the little bug). I absolutely love it! I've used it on pages, cards, school projects and more. |

I have used the Cricut at crops. I used to be a scrapbook instructor so I got familiar with it. But for myself I bought the Silhouette. It is the same as a Wishblade and the Xyron version but is made by QuicKutz. I bought it because I LOVE QuicKutz designs and because it connects to the computer. This means that I can save any graphic file in Photoshop Elements and translate it to a readable file for Silhouette to cut. I can also download tons of free fonts from the internet (or buy from QK's website). And lastly it even had a pen holder so that it can print graphics like a plotter. Okay, that wasn't the last thing. The last thing is that it will also syncronize with a printer so that an image can be printed on the printer and then the outline can be cut in Silhouette. |

I just used one for the first time at a crop on January 25th, and I love it! I ordered the larger one (Cricut Expressions) and found it online for $299 (which included two cartridges that I got to pick out). I won two auctions on Ebay for cartridges, plus Hobby Lobby had 2 cartridges for $100 last week. I used it this last weekend to help create 6 pages. Cartridges are around $50, which when compared to $150 for Sizzix alphabets (which I had been using), are a really good deal. I can cut a letter from 1/4" to (I think) over 5"...plus there are shapes on the cartridges too.
DeniseIt has definitely given me the incentive to put aside housework and scrapbook even more :)
