We’d like to thank everyone who participated in the Inspiration and Creativity’s April Challenge to repurpose items for your art. We loved all of the entries.
Congratulations, Kerry, whose repurposed light bulb mouse squeaked past the competition. Kerry shares how she created the mouse:
“I cleaned the bulb with alcohol, then coated it with a glass-painting medium—candle medium works just as well. I painted the hair strokes with shades of grey using a ¼ rake brush . I painted ears made from cardstock, bent them a bit and glued them on. Then I glued on a piece of leather thong for a tail, although any narrow cording will do. I took the suggestion of sitting him in a potted plant, but he doesn't show up very well. So I have him sitting up on top of a doorframe (I secured him up there with Fun-Tak putty). I've had several people do a startled double take when they see him! It was the reaction I was wanting—ha ha!”

I’ve included a few inspirational items to get you started, including:
If repurposing clothing is more your style, Celpenelope’s pillowcase skirt is so simple, yet wonderful.
Craft: magazine often features crafters who use recycled materials, but I was blown away when they featured this outfit made entirely from recycled plastic bags by Cathy Kasdan.
Good luck to everyone! We're excited to see your entries!
