What is your favorite summer craft?

    Thursday, May 29, 2008, 03:09 PM [General]

Now that summer has officially started with the passing of Memorial Day, my question is - what is your favorite craft for the summer? I have heard people say that they do not knit during the summer, but to me - I think it would be great to sit out on the front porch with a set of needles and some yarn and enjoy the weather.

Often I wish I had a covered patio where I could scrapbook and just watch nature from my back yard. Of course, I live in the city, so that nature typically consists of just birds, squirrels and my two dogs, but you get the point.

Tell us - what is your favorite summer craft?

Hi there! My favorite summer craft is beading, beading and more beading! In all seriousness, beading is a great summer craft since jewelry is much more noticeable as sleeves get shorter and necklines go below the neck! Hair is pinned back, etc. It's a great time to put a little carrying case together with a few tools, memory wire (my favorite since it only requires one tool), a tube of beads and your imagination. Sit under a tree, on a porch, at the pool or even on the beach! Many beading techniques also provide for fairly instant gratification. Thanks for allowing me to share! I'm always looking for someone to convert into a beading addict! Lisa C.

I still knit, but it has to be something small and light weight. Unless my husband has the AC on artic chill, then I will knit something a little heavier so my legs are covered. I like to sew during the summer, but I mostly enjoy taking pictures and turning them into art of some sort. Whether they be on a scrapbook page, (okay, laying in a drawer waiting to be put on a scrapbook page), or made into a collage, or just made into a new photo colletion for my wall. I also cross stitch in the summer. This summer may be differnt though since my son isn't a little baby anymore. I might not have the time to do anything. Last year I did dry some flower petals and made a painting. I will post a pic on my blog. It was really pretty. Okay I'll leave you alone now!
