Today I went to the Gem Faire. If I wait until it is close to the 12 p.m. opening to get there parking is completely non-existant. So this morning I planned ahead. I packed up the sweater I am knitting and a couple bottles of water. I arrived around 10:20 a.m. and was able to find a place to park. Of course all of the handicapped places were all taken but I didn't need to park very far from the door.
I sat inside in the comfy airconditioning and knitted and listened to other ladies talk about San Diego before it had grown to it's present size. It was very interesting and I enjoyed hearing about how different the areas that I am familiar with had changed. When it got closer to noon I returned my knitting to the car and got in line to have my ticket taken.
It was quite apparent that our economy is in rough shape, usually the showrooms are so packed there is hardly enough room to move from one vender to the next. Today the floor looked as though it was close to the time they close for the day. It was quite a surprise to see such a poor turn out.
Since I do most of my shopping online I am not out in stores all that often unless I am there for a specific purchase. In the past (prior to RSD) I wasn't much of a shopper and for sure now I do a whole lot less.
My purchases were few, 2 strands of garnets, 3 strands of beautiful great quality Peruvian opals (blue), 3 strands of sterling silver balls, and some copper findings. Not very much but I am really pleased with my purchases. The is a great dapping tool set there for only $56 and it was difficult not buying it. My pass is good for the whole weekend so I may still return for it.
Majestica from Costa Mesa wasn't there this time but her husband showed me pictures of the twins. They have grown so much in the last 4 months. They are no longer those little preemies and are now strong healthy little girls crawling around getting into whatever they can.
I was starving when I got home. Since it was time for me to leave shortly after I got up so didn't have time for breakfast. Also was glad to sit down with Scrappy and enjoy part of a program on the History channel. Think we both had a few minutes of shut eye too!
