    Sunny day in Cinci

Thursday, April 24, 2008, 10:05 AM CST [General]

    Hi folks,

Thursday in Cincinnati. Sunny. Promises to get *warm*.

Thank you Candy for holding down the fort while your Beading & Jewelry MCblog mates have been in the shop for repairs. Broke my kneecap into lots of little pieces on the ice last February. Doc put Humpty together again.

Not much beading going on 'round here lately. But here's one of my favorite pieces I made last year. It started with the amazonite pendant and large tumble pebbles.

Aquamarine disks in the inner strand help balance the weight of the outer strand. I love the silver cubes. In all, the silver in the necklace came to $80 (*choke*).

    Ta,

Beautiful! Where is your favorite store to purchase beads? I'm always looking for new places. I just got back from visiting my sister in near Seattle. I had opportunity to stop by Shipwreck Beads, reported to be the largest bead shop in the US. OH BOY is it ever! I have pocutes but I haven't downloaded them yet from the camera. It was overwhelming. About 1/3 way through I couldn't take it! There were hanks and bins and bags and ...... I did manage to get some neat stuff.

    Dorothy and Christine,

Thanks for the the compliments. Dorothy, I've never been to Shipwreck. By all means post your pics on your site, then let us know they're there.

I'm recently from Eugene, OR. My **favorite** shop is Harlequin Beads on Willamette. I've been to Azillion beads out on Conger. They have different offerings, but Harlequin always seems to have what I need, including an incredibly knowledgeable, talented, friendly, and helpful staff.

Harlequin has a trunk show once a month from terrific vendors (I got the amazonite at one of the trunk shows.)

Stacy Berma, the owner, helped me select some Swarovski crystals one day. Then told me I'd save a lot of money by ordering them from the website. Silly woman. But she's been in business for 20 years, so she's doing something right!

Ouch, that sounds like it must awful to have fallen like that. I hope you are back to beading soon. Love the necklace.

Thanks, Tammy. For sure it's no fun. But considering the other bones I might have broken falling on the ice, I count myself very lucky.
