Hey, this is my first blog post. It's short and sweet because I have a 4 year old daughter running around screaming and occasionally smacking me in the head with stuffed animals. I also have an 8 year old son, who thankfully is in school at the moment, and a husband who of late is working primarily at home but who, thankfully, is at the office at the moment. I mostly do afghan crocheting these days because I get used to the stitches in a pattern and it basically becomes a non-thinking exercise, sort of eye-open meditation while simultaneously watching crappy reality t.v. after the kids have gone to bed. I make an afghan or two every month and most of them go to Project Linus for kids in hospitals. It's a great organization and gives me an excuse to keep making afghans. While my family enjoys curling up in them, you can only have so many in the house at any given moment. The cat (Snickers) and dog (Frank) each already have their own, plus they take over any left about. My husband complains about the lack of closet space due to the afghans in storage and Linus helps me maintain my hobby while keeping my husband happy. (Well, happy may be too strong of a word. He's usually not happy unless he's plugging away at his Dell computer keyboard. Let's say it keeps him moderately content.)
Oh, no! The beloved child is approaching with arms full of furry ammunition. I better say farewell!
