This frisket film mask technique—a wonderful combination of clean lines and messy paint—is one of my favorites from Scraptastic!

Frisket film (which is clear, water-resistant and self-adhesive) allows the freedom of messy painting on scrapbook pages, while maintaining clean edges on various designs and shapes. Frisket film is easy to cut, so you can mask out any design or shape. Plus, painting creates a subtle texture and uniquely artistic look for layouts. Once you’ve masked and painted, try adding additional texture with hand embroidery, as author Ashley Calder did on her layout (shown here).
Scraptastic! offers 50 great ideas for infusing your scrapbook layouts with exciting new techniques. In Ashley Calder’s debut book, she teaches you ways to take your projects
